Dal-chawal, sabzi-roti — home food, not restaurant food

For parents & anyone who needs it softer

Comfort Gentle

A lower-oil, lower-spice, softer-texture version of the same day's menu for elderly parents or anyone who needs easier-to-digest food. Same dishes, same rotation, adjusted cooking method — not a separate menu.

  • Oil reduced by roughly 30% in tempering and cooking
  • Chilli powder cut by half; Kashmiri chilli used for colour, not heat
  • No deep-fried items — fry preparations swapped for roast, steam, or shallow-pan versions
  • Rice cooked softer with extra water; phulka rolled thinner and softer with a little extra ghee
  • Salt reduced by roughly 20%; no added ajinomoto/MSG
  • Raw onion and garlic reduced in tempering
  • Dals and pulses cooked to fully mashable softness
  • Optional swap to idli or dal-khichdi on request for very soft or no-chew needs

Portions

  • Rice: 180-200g cooked, per meal
  • Curry or sabzi: 120-150g per dish
  • Dal or pappu: 150g/150ml
  • Roti or phulka: 2 pieces (~40g each); some North Indian dinners include a 3rd on request
  • Curd: 80-100g cup
  • Pickle: 10g sachet
  • Non-veg swap (chicken): 150g curry, 2-3 pieces bone-in (or boneless equivalent)
  • Non-veg swap (egg): 2 eggs in curry
